The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Digital Device
Exactly 30 years after the original Toy Story movie debuted, establishing the animation giant as a leading film company and bringing audiences to iconic figures like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a glimpse into the storyline but keeping fans curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Toys
The preview reveals the young girl — who received the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a latest toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and helping giveaway items find good homes.
Surely, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?
Connections from the Previous Film
At the very least, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act Woody did before departing for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. The clip shows the insignia attached to her shirt.
Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
